Course Description
You've studied some figure drawing, but now you want to translate that knowledge into your area of interest or study. This is a class that will teach you how to simplify the challenges of the clothed figure based on a constructive approach to drawing. Students will be introduced to the basics of drapery, including the different kinds of folds and how they work together to help describe the figure. We will cover a simple and efficient approach to laying in the figure and how to handle different kinds of clothing to produce a pleasing and clear design. An emphasis will be placed on quick sketch drawing from photographs progressing up to longer efforts. The skills learned in this course are applicable to many genres of art including illustration, design and invention, costume, and life drawing. By the end of the course students will be able to envision and construct the clothed figure from imagination.Students are required to supply some materials for this course.
