ESPN-0238 - Watercolour Painting: Birds of a Feather Online
Course Description
This course will cover basic watercolour principles which can be used together to paint our fine feathered friends. Charming, curious and colourful creatures, birds have long been incredibly fascinating subjects for artists. We will look at some of the different species common to Nova Scotia as well as more exotic birds from around the globe, together with nests, colourful patterned eggs and feathers. A variety of techniques will be applied: wet-on-dry, wet-on-wet, glazing, masking, negative painting, layering, and more. Carefully detailed renderings, as well as more free and flowing compositions, will be explored, using both photo references and actual subjects. Students are expected to have some experience with watercolour painting.
This course is hosted online. As such, students are required to have access to a computer, tablet, or smartphone with internet access during class time. Access to a web camera and microphone is strongly recommended. Additional materials required.
