ESCE-0111 - Ceramics: Introduction to Handbuilding
Course Description

Turning attention to the intimate ways of hand-building we will explore various ways of making functional vessels and objects using our hands. Over this 7-week course, you will become well acquainted with the clay and will develop a symbiotic relationship. You will also be introduced to multiple surface design techniques including under-glaze transfers and Mishima.
In this course, you will learn:
- The basics of hand building techniques with clay: pinching, coiling and slab-building

How to make 3D objects such as mugs, vases, jars, wall art and more

An understanding of the nature of clay
Student materials and all required tools will be provided, though all students are welcome to bring any tools of their own.
