ESPN-0132 - Introductory Watercolour Painting Online
Course Description

This course will introduce students to the foundation of painting with watercolour, including the unique qualities of watercolour such as vibrant colours, transparency effects, and immediacy. The course will give instruction, demonstrations, and critiques in colour design, light and value studies, and fundamental techniques, as students work from subjects such as still life, landscape, abstraction, and imagination. No experience required.
In this course, you will learn:

Develop an understanding of the unique properties of watercolour, including transparency, layering, and colour vibrancy.

Gain control of water, pigment, and brush techniques to create a range of effects and textures.

Explore colour mixing and colour design, building harmonious and expressive palettes.

Learn to use light and value to create depth, form, and contrast.

Practice painting a variety of subjects, including still life, landscape, and imaginative compositions.
This course is hosted online. As such, students are required to have access to a computer, tablet, or smartphone with internet access during class time. Access to a web camera and microphone is strongly recommended. Additional materials required.
