Course Description

This intermediate throwing class is a great opportunity to develop your throwing skills. Designed for those who have already taken a beginner throwing class and would like to further develop their skills. Throwing and decorating demonstrations and techniques will be structured around the interests of those taking the class, so one on one development can take place. We will be using a buff cone 6 stoneware clay. Basic throwing experience is required, materials are included. The intermediate throwing class will explore more advance techniques in creating more complex forms. We will investigate techniques using composite forms and multiple parts, altering thrown elements for making one of a kind objects. Students will be encouraged to begin thinking about developing their own unique style while creating their work with the new set of advance throwing and surface decorating techniques.

In this course, students will:

  • Learn to focus on consistency and production
  • Learn to work toward complex forms and technical challenges
  • Learn to develop personal style and refinement

All materials provided. Please bring a cloth or rag, and wear an apron or clothes you don't mind getting messy to class.
