Course Description

This class is a great place to start for both the beginner painter and for those looking to build technical knowledge and practice! Introductory Acrylic covers paint handling, tonal painting and blending, colour theory and colour mixing, composition, characteristics of acrylic paint and mediums, lighting, as well as content and narrative. Exercises include studies in still-life, landscape, and more! 

 

In this course, students will learn:  

  • Palette setup, paint handling, brushwork, and all the properties of acrylic paint & supplies. 
  • How to paint a tonal scale, and black & white tonal studies from a photo. 
  • Basic colour mixing, colour scales, and how to paint a full colour study from a colour photo. 
  • How to paint from life using a still-life arrangement in the studio. 
  • How to work with coloured grounds or under-paintings. 
  • Students will also learn how to work with landscape, portraits, and other subjects.
