Course Description

Explore the beauty, colour, and character of culinary herbs in this eight-week online intermediate watercolour course. Using reference images, students will paint a different herb each week while refining their skills in colour mixing, layering, glazing, brush control, texture, and botanical detail. Through careful observation, they will explore the distinctive shapes, delicate leaves, and subtle colour variations that make each herb unique. The individual paintings will come together in a final creative project, where students will cut out and collage their painted herbs into a cohesive composition, adding decorative hand-lettered names to create an original illustrated artwork inspired by vintage botanical studies—perfect for displaying in the kitchen. This course is designed for students with some previous watercolour experience who are looking to build on their existing skills and develop greater confidence with watercolour techniques.
