Course Description
Portrait Practice Time! This 10 week cours is for teens looking to develop and master the practice of portrait drawing & painting. We'll work in a variety of media from Drawing (Charcoal, Graphite, Inks, Chalk, and Pastels, and Collage) and moving into Painting, (Watercolour & Acrylic), We'll explore various styles and methods of making portraits including representation, illustration, & abstraction. We'll cover self-portraits, portraits of others, and work from photo references as well as from life. Students will learn about facial proportions and features, light and shadow, colour, and how to develop the expressive qualities of portraits through materials exploration. We'll produce 10 different portraits throughout the course in different styles, techniques, and materials.
