Course Description

This course will introduce students to the basics of self-portraiture through the art of photography. Looking to the history of self-portraiture across cultures, students will generate a variety of portraits exploring related themes such as identity, the gaze, and the body. Students will learn technical skills (depending whether DSLRs are available or cellphone photography) including compositional tricks, lighting, and basic editing techniques.
