Course Description

Gouache, an opaque watercolour paint, has been a favourite of artists for centuries. It can be used to create paintings in a wide range of styles from vibrant illustrations and expressive landscapes to delicate miniatures. Explore the possibilities of this versatile, fast-drying, travel-friendly medium with us. We will draw inspiration from examples of gouache paintings and learn techniques including wet-into-wet, wet-over-dry, colour mixing, using an underpainting, and layering. We will work from still lifes, photo-references, and imagination. Beginning through advanced students are welcome.
