ESDS-0133 - *NEW Illustrating Time: Intro to Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
Course Description
What does your year look like? In this class we'll create a series of digital, collage-style illustrations that tells the story of your year while learning the best of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
You'll learn how to prepare found materials and hand-drawn elements for use on the computer, building your own library of assets that you can play with as you learn these industry-standard programs in a low-stakes, creative way. Beginning with the basics of working within Photoshop and Illustrator's environments, we'll experiment with tools and processes, looking at smart workflows and the benefits of each program. Technical demonstrations are supported by sample files and reference hand-outs, structured for students to go at their own pace and learn by exploring based on their interests. We'll look at techniques for creating a cohesive series of artworks beginning from concept to final illustration and surrounding graphic design. You'll explore type and shape tools to further customize your calendar design to make a personal, print-ready product of your own by the end of this course. At the end of this course, you'll have your own material library and resources to continue developing your digital artistic process, as well as an illustrated calendar for your portfolio, walls, and gift-giving needs!
