ESPH-0220 - Digital Photography II
Course Description
For photographers who have completed NSCAD Extended Studies’ ‘Introductory Digital Photography’ course or who are already proficient in digital camera handling, image cataloging and manipulation in software like Lightroom Classic, and are interested in furthering their printing skills, this course offers the time, space, and feedback environment to help workers develop their practice. Technical and aesthetic issues will be addressed in a wide variety of short assignments culminating in a final, self-directed Project. This intermediate course does requires prior experience.
Access to a digital camera with manual exposure capability is necessary. Along with aesthetic concerns, the course covers best practices in digital workflow from shooting to photo storage, hardware management including camera care, basics of digital manipulation, and digital printing. Printing costs are not included. Students can expect to spend more than $100 on materials.
Tuition includes 8 weeks of access outside of class in the photography/multimedia computer lab along with pay-per-use printing. This is a huge benefit, as the department has fast, up-to-date Mac computers running much of the Adobe Creative Suite and charges students very low rates for printing.
