Laing House 2023
Throughout the fall of 2022 and the winter of 2023, NSCAD Art Factory partnered with Laing House to offer a series of visual arts workshops for Laing House members. We hosted drop-in programming on a weekly basis at Laing House from October to January, exploring processes such as embroidery, hand-stitching, felting, lino bloc printing, screen printing, book arts, zine-making, polymer clay sculpture, and beaded earring and pin making. In the winter, Laing House members were invited to participate in two series of specialized workshops that took place in the studios at NSCAD, one set of workshops focusing on jewelry (silver band ring making) and one on ceramics (stamped tiles, hand building, and wheel throwing).
Laing House is a local non-profit “dedicated to empowering young people [ages 16-29] living with mental illness by providing well-rounded support in young people’s wellness plans."
