Jack Ross is a visual artist, and art educator from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Jack studied Fine Art at NSCAD (BFA, Painting, 2012), and has worked as a drawing and painting instructor with Extended Studies for over 10 years. He teaches courses for adults and teenagers with a focus on making art understandable and accessible for everyone. As an instructor, Jack's goal is to help students develop the skills and confidence to make art-making a regular part of their lives.
Jack works with acrylics, oils, watercolour, and drawing regularly in his practice. He considers observational study vital and this extends outside the studio to plein-air painting and urban sketching. He's interested in the significance of contemporary painting and its potential to address complex issues, current events, and culture.
Jack's work has been exhibited at galleries throughout Nova Scotia including: The Craig Gallery at Alderney Landing, The Anna Leonowens Gallery, NSCAD University, 14 Bells Fine Art Gallery, the Ice House Gallery, and Argyle Fine Art. Jack is represented by Argyle Fine Art in Halifax.
