Course Description

In this intermediate course, students will build from their foundation of drawing knowledge to explore drawing and mark-making on paper beyond the scope of still life and live models, aiming to create nonrepresentational and abstract compositions that evoke beauty and meaning. Traditional techniques will be centred, but alternative drawing techniques such as stamping, blotting, and blowing will be introduced through introductory workshops. Opportunities will be taken to look at examples of historic and contemporary abstract art. Prior drawing experience is recommended.
